I am Jonny. ‘I AM’ happens to be part of the Invictus Games logo, just one of the life changing experiences I bring to my partners at events, where unsurprisingly, I draw upon the power of the human spirit. Through overcoming adversity across a life full of stories from military operations including being one of just 100s of UK personnel trained as interpreters in Afghanistan, to working in the ‘thick of it’ in politics running elections, or recovering from near limb-loss, multiple surgeries and a mental health injury, I have spent a lot of time focussing on ‘Me’. So as much as ‘I am Jonny’, when we work together, it becomes more about ‘we’ and the community we seek to serve. Let us get to know each other and deliver something powerful.

I have a remarkable life spanning military service, politics, charities, and the Armed Forces community. I have run campaigns such as elections, mental health provision and fighting for Veterans’ rights, bringing strategic insight and deep personal commitment to each role. I am also a former Assistant Director at the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Relationship Management where we pioneered changes within industry around Armed Forces engagement, and am a trusted and influential networker in the community.

As a long-serving Army Reservist I completed challenging operational tours in Northern Ireland and Afghanistan. For my work in the latter—as a Pashto linguist and Intelligence Analyst—I was proud to have received a Commander Land Forces’ Commendation for my service. My lived experience has informed my advocacy for mental health provision in Defence, helping campaign to expand specialist support services to include the Reservist community.

I am the host of the Veterans In Politics podcast and co-founded the UK Afghanistan Veterans Community. In 2023, I was selected to represent Team UK at the Invictus Games, where I medalled in powerlifting, captained the indoor rowing team, and achieved personal bests in cycling. I continue my advocacy for the Games, as an Ambassador for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027. I am an executive level leader of a charity and regularly speak of my experiences at events, podcasts or in the media in order to inspire others. I am Jonny and I believe in the power of the human spirit.

MC and design your event

I thrive in events. From design to delivery, I’ve years of experience running conferences and webinars, using my skills of presenting and active listening. I love ensuring that the flow of your event matches your intent, and have worked in intimate environments to engagements where literally all eyes of the world are on you! I’m equally at home in a suit or a tracksuit, depending on your event style.
Inspirational Speaking and Advocacy

I can tell my story, or that of others. I’ve represented communities of wounded warriors, to political leaders and captains of industry. Using my talent of storytelling, let the message you want to land hit with power and authenticity. I speak on a range of subjects, from being one of the few non-native speakers of Pashto to have served in Afghanistan, to my formative years on the front line of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, on mental health, recovery through sports and of course, the Invictus Games. I can tailor to suit you and your outcomes.
Podcasting and Media

There are a lot of podcasts, with the majority failing after one or two episodes. I’ve years of experience hosting The Veterans In Politics Podcast, and have been the guest on dozens. I also project managed the Deloitte Veterans Work Podcast, and produced AJEX For Honour’s Sake. Be that behind or on the mic, I’m passionate about podcasts! I also have extensive experience on camera, have have been interviewed live on Channel 5 News and BBC1 on Remembrance Sunday, representing other organisations, as well as regular contributions to LBC, TalkTV, GB News, BBC Radio and Forces News.
